Is wart treatment painful?
Most patients experience only mild discomfort — a brief stinging or cooling sensation during cryotherapy. Plantar warts on weight-bearing areas of the foot can be slightly more sensitive, but discomfort is temporary. A topical numbing cream can be applied in advance if preferred.
-
How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on the size, depth, and type of wart. Common and flat warts often respond after one or two sessions. Mosaic and plantar verrucae can be more stubborn and may require three or more treatments. Your practitioner will advise based on the individual lesion.
-
Can warts come back after treatment?
Because warts are caused by HPV — a viral infection — recurrence is possible even after successful treatment. Our treatments are designed to eliminate the visible lesion and support the immune response to reduce this risk. Maintaining good skin hygiene and avoiding shared surfaces in warm, damp environments helps prevent reinfection.
-
Is there any downtime?
Minimal. You can resume normal daily activities immediately after treatment. Avoiding tight footwear, friction, and pressure on treated areas for 24 hours is recommended to support healing.
-
Are warts contagious?
Yes. HPV spreads through direct skin contact or from contaminated surfaces, particularly in warm, moist environments such as swimming pools or changing rooms. Walking barefoot in communal areas and sharing personal items increases the risk of infection.
-
Can warts go away on their own?
Some warts, particularly in children, do resolve without treatment over months or years as the immune system responds to the virus. However, treatment is advisable when warts are painful, spreading, persistent, or causing distress — and professional treatment achieves faster, more reliable results.
